Entitlement - You owe me!

So I am sitting here thinking about a story a co-worker shared with me. We will call this coworker Mr. Boom. It was a great story that talked about how taxes are paid in the U.S. and those people who dont pay any taxes still often feel entitled to tax benefits, or more specifically tax stimulus checks.

Not all people have this sense of entitlement, but some people do, and I wonder why their thought process changes to the "you owe me" mentality.

We have all seen these people, know them, or may even have friends that have this sense of entitlement. These people may or may not work, but one thing is true they feel like they are owed something from someone, or government, or their employer.

I don't think I was raised to be a very hard worker, but at some point in my life I was blessed enough to figure out the greatest gift that the United States offers. The ability to move from whatever situation your in to a better one. It may be hard, even nearly impossible for some, but always possible. This single dream is what sparks mass immigration into the United States, and makes this country worth living in.

Sadly, I see this dream being eroded. People seem to be moving from a "hand up" mentality to a "hand out" mentality.

If your reading this please leave a comment with your thoughts on this topic, I would love any one's opinions.

Thank You!

Now a short song to sing along with!

  1. I believe that there are certain things that all of us should be "entitled" to: clean water, public education, basic food and health care, and a safe place to live and raise a family. Yet, I would also throw out a new sense of entitlement: the entitlement of the wealthy. Don't you think there are quite a few people in Scottsdale that are wealthy and walk around with a certain type of entitlement, just because of the family they were raised in, not because of their own personal hard work.

    Just a thought!
